2016 Ford Edge

Mid-range segment of Ford’s SUV range will be refreshed in 2016. New Edge is on the way as second generation vehicle. After seven years, company decided to head into bigger redesign and to launch it as 2016 Ford Edge. However, we expect some significant changes, but since there is no official info about crossover, we still can’t be sure what is coming.

It is likely for 2016 Ford Edge to get 2.0L EcoBoost I-4 unit as its base drivetrain. This one can put up 245 hp and 270 lb-ft of torque. Since 2016 Edge is expected in few trim levels, higher end models will have stronger engines. So, next trim will be powered from 3.5-l V6 with 285 hp and 263 lb-ft of torque. Top of the class and the most expensive models gets power from 2.7-l twin-turbo V6, which is capable to deliver the highest output, 320 hp and 375 lb-ft of torque. Front-wheel drive is standard for base models, while AWD will be deployed for higher trims of the Edge. Engines will send power through 6-speed auto gearbox, while new 9-speed transmission system is unlikely for this model.

Highlight of the 2016 Ford Edge design is new trapezoidal stripe grille. Also, new Edge gets new-look headlights and fascia. Higher hood and short nose give more aggressiveness. Bumper gets refreshment with larger exhaust pipes. It is designed to take up to 5 passengers as a mid-size crossover. Comfort is highlight of the interior and upholstery is made of finest materials. Instrument panel features touch screen display with MyFord touch infotainment system. USB ports and Bluetooth are standard. Navigation is available on 4.2-inch screen, while interior impression is boosted by LCD gauges, handsfree liftgate, and heated and cooled seats. Safety is also improved with more airbags and many new security systems. Rearview camera, parking and brake assist and forward-collision warning are just few of these. New 2016 Edge will be available for purchase in these trim levels: SE model as entry level, mid-range SEL, and Titanium and Sport models topping the class.

2016 Ford Edge price

Base models of 2016 Ford Edge SE trim starts from $28,100 without any extra packages. The most expensive, with most equipment, is Sport model, that uses all-wheel drive and its price is just over $40,000 mark.
