2017 Ford F-150 Raptor

Original Raptor came as 2010 year model. It was based on standard F-150 but it was modified especially for off-road racing. In order to improve trucks off-road capability, Ford made several modifications such as new suspension with wider travel, wider body and wings, restyled grille etc. This model was very well accepted so everyone expected to see Raptor based on thirteenth-generation F-150. New model was finally presented on Detroit Auto Show as 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor, so it is clear that new model won’t come before 2016. Just like original model, this one also features many unique parts, compared to standard model, in order to improve off-road capabilities.

The 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor is based on new-generation F-150, which means that it comes with same body structure, which includes massive use of aluminum and high-strength steel, which provides a weight saving of 500 pounds, compared to previous Raptor. It is also wider for about six inches. When it is about outside look, there are many unique details, designed to be more appropriate for off-road drive. The 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor features unique headlights, grille, wheels and many others.

Interior also suffers many modifications. Although it basically has the same styling as base model, there are many unique details such as door panels design, leather-trimmed steering wheel, two-tone seats, carbon fiber-like trim and many other. The 2017 F-150 Raptor will be equipped with Sync 3 infotainment system, which through a large touchscreen control the navigation system, manage other vehicle settings, uses many phone apps, Bluetooth connection etc.

Instead of large and thirsty V8, 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor will be powered by more advanced EcoBoost engine. It is 3.5 liter V6 which will output similar amount of power but with fat better fuel economy. The power will be transferred through 10-speed automatic transmission which also features paddle shifters for manual control. There are several drive modes – Normal, Street, Weather, Mud and Sand, Baja, and Rock. The 2017 F-150 Raptor will feature a larger Fox Racing Shox that will provide even greater wheel travel compared to current 11.2 and 12 inches.

This hi-performance off-road truck has been presented recently on 2015 International Auto Show in Detroit. It is expected that 2017 Ford F-150 will go on sale in the fall of 2016.
