2016 Lincoln MKX
This mid-size crossover was originally launched in 2006 as 2007 year model. After nine years of production, first-generation model is finally going to be replaced. The 2016 Lincoln MKX comes as second-generation model and it will be completely redesigned. New model has been presented recently on the International Auto Show in Detroit and it presents a big step ahead compared to its predecessor. It features completely new look, new interior, plenty of advanced technologies, new engine etc.
2016 Lincoln MKX redesign
The design of 2016 Lincoln MKX completely follows brand’s new design language. Compared to previous model, it looks much more attractive, with more muscular stance and much more aerodynamic look, compared to original’s boxy appearance. Front fascia features recognizable split-wing grille, blade-like headlamps, while car’s profile is much more elegant. Rear end is full of details that give additional dose of sportiness. There are muscular rear fenders, wraparound taillights, rectangular exhaust tips etc.
Interior also comes completely redesigned. The 2016 MKX features elegant cabin, which is also in the style of other Lincoln models. It is perfectly mixed with different materials such as wood, metal and high-quality leather. On the other side, control board is pretty much based on Ford Fusion, although it features many unique details. The 2016 Lincoln MKX is equipped with plenty of high-technology features. Things like 360-degree camera system, pre-collision assist, cross-traffic alert and automatic parallel and perpendicular parking comes already in standard package.
2016 Lincoln MKX engine
The 2016 Lincoln MKX will be available in two variants, when it is about engines. The base engine will be 3.7 liter Duratec V6 engine, which outputs around 305 horses and 280 lb-ft of torque. The other option is more powerful and much more advanced 2.7 liter EcoBoost engine, which also guarantees much better fuel economy. This engine has max output of 330 hp and 370 pound-feet of torque. Both engines will be matted to 6-speed automatic transmission and both will be available in ether FWD or AWD configurations.
2016 Lincoln MKX release date, price and competition
The 2016 Lincoln MKX had its premiere recently on 2015 Detroit Auto Show and it is expected that production model will be available by the end of the year. Price is still unknown, but we don’t expect big rise, compared to current model, which starts around 38.500 dollars. The 2016 MKX will compete with models like Cadillac SRX and Lexus RX.
