2016 Ford Flex redesign
Ford Flex is a full-size SUV, which was originally launched in 2008. It is heavily based on 2005 Ford Fairlane concept and it is characterized by traditional but very stylish boxy design. This model is very well accepted, mainly on the West Coast, and after 2013 refresh, it is time for a second-generation model. New car is in the final phase of development and it is expected to come very soon. According to the latest information, redesigned model is expected to come as 2016 Ford Flex and it should come by the end of the year.
2016 Ford Flex changes
The 2016 Ford Flex will come redesigned. The second-generation model will come with plenty of changes but it will keep the same base characteristic as original model. It will keep its straight boxy SUV design but, compared to original, it will get many new details which will make it more attractive. It will continue to ride on the same D4 platform, which is used for models like Explorer and Lincoln MKT, but it will get new visual appearance. Main differences will be on the front end, where 2016 Ford Flex redesign will get new larger grille and reshaped headlights. Rear end will also follow the style of the front.
The interior will also come redesigned, but those changes won’t be radical but more evolutional nature. New model will also feature seven seats and it will be characterized by hi-quality materials all over the cabin. It will come with 4.2 inch touchscreen, which will feature new infotainment system and it will be equipped with Sony sound system, which features 12 speakers. The 2016 Ford Flex will come with many safety features. Compared to current model, stability and traction control will be standard features now. There will be also optional features like cruise control, forward collision alert, blind-spot monitors, rearview camera and parking sensors.
2016 Ford Flex engine
Current model is powered by two engines. The base one is 3.5 liter Duratec V6 engine, which outputs 262 hp and 248 lb-ft of torque. The optional engine is 3.5 liter V6 twin-turbocharged EcoBoost, which has maximum output of 355 horses and 350 lb-ft of max torque. It is still unknown which engines will power 2016 Ford Flex, but it is expected that EcoBoost unit will carryover, while the destiny of base Duratec engine is uncertain.
2016 Ford Flex price
It is expected that 2016 Ford Flex will remain in the similar price range. Current model goes from 29.000 to 38.000 dollars.
