2016 Ford Falcon
Australian car lovers will soon say goodbye to one of the most iconic and most beloved models that Ford Motor Company of Australia ever made. After 55 years of production, this model goes to legend. Originally introduced in 1960, this model came through seven generations and 2016 Ford Falcon will be the last Falcon ever made. Thanks to the company’s new strategy that doesn’t include models for local markets, but only global-oriented ones, there won’t be models like this anymore. This full-size sedan will be replaced with some worldwide-offered model, probably with new Mondeo. When it is about 2016 Falcon, it will have pretty much the same characteristics as 2015 year model.
2016 Ford Falcon specs
As we said, last model will be pretty much the same as 2015 Falcon. Last year, company did some modifications on this model and 2016 Ford Falcon is expected to carry on in the same way. However, most of the car remains the same as 2008 year model. Because of very limited budget, these changes are not so big as it is usual case. Company did only some visual modifications on the major areas while parts like doors, roof, glasshouse etc. remains the same. Just like 2015 year model, 2016 Ford Falcon features new front fascia and modified rear end. There are new trapezoid grille and new, more angular headlights, so we can say that outgoing Falcon follows Ford’s new Kinetic design language. Rear end includes new taillights and added chrome details to the boot lid. When it is about interior, there will be almost no difference between 2008 and 2016 Falcon.
There are only some minor modifications that are barely notable, while only major change is improved car’s interface, which now includes Ford-Microsoft Sync 2 system. Features that are also improved are 8-inch touchscreen, navigation and rear view camera, which come with better resolution now. When it is about engines, the base 4.0 liter V6 will remain, but it will be paired with new ZF 6-speed transmission, which came with 2015 Ford Falcon and which should make some additional fuel savings. The 2016 Ford Falcon will be also available with 2.0 liter 4-cylinder EcoBoost engine which is far more advanced. Despite two-times smaller displacement, this engine offers similar amount of power but much better fuel economy.
