2015 Ford Flex
Based on 2005 Fairlane concept, this full-size SUV came in 2008 as 2009 year model. It came as a replacement for Ford Taurus X station wagon. This model is in its first generation, but in 2012 it came with several modifications such as refreshed outside look, restyled interior, improved engines, new transmission etc. Since it past only two years after this big mid-cycle refreshment, it seems logical that 2015 Ford Flex comes with almost no changes. Just like last-year model, it comes with only minor novelties such as new colors and some new standard feature.
2015 Ford Flex specs
This crossover is characterized by very interesting looking, which not fits to everyone’s taste. This striking, boxy-chic design with many horizontal lines became even more unique last year, when Ford added a chrome bar that spans the length of the grille and flows into the headlights on either side. Despite its very eccentric look, 2015 Ford Flex is very functional. It has very well designed cabin which features three rows of seats, so this crossover is able to accommodate seven passengers. You can also choose an option for six passengers, which include two captain’s chairs in the second row and can give much more legroom for the rear passengers. When it is about hi-tech features, all models except base trim come with SYNC Ford’s connectivity system, while MyFord Touch is offered as optional.
Instead traditional knobs, all controls are on the 8-inch touchscreen which now includes some new apps such as The Wall Street Journal news and Pandora radio. It is also worth to mention that heated mirrors are standard feature on all models now.
2015 Ford Flex engines
The 2015 Ford Flex is offered with two petrol engines that came improved with 2013 refresh. The base engine is 3.5 liter naturally-aspirated Duratec-V6 engine which now has an output of 285 horses and 255 lb-ft of torque. With this engine, 2015 Flex with FWD returns 18 city/25 highway mpg, while AWD variant makes 17/23 mpg. The more powerful 2015 Ford Flex is powered with twin-turbocharged 3.5 liter EcoBoost engine, which makes 355 horsepower and 350 lb-ft of torque. This engine is much more advanced so, although it has 70 ponies more than Duratec, consumption is almost the same (16/23 mpg for AWD). Both variants come with 6-speed automatic transmission, equipped with paddle shifters.
