2015 Ford Edge test drive

As you probably know, all-new second-generation of Ford Edge came recently. This is a mid-size crossover, which rides on Ford’s CD4 platform. It come slightly bigger than its predecessor and it features completely new look, which is completely adapted to company’s new design language, so you can see many styling cues borrowed from models such as new Explorer or Taurus. Although 2015 Ford Edge comes with amazing exterior, we found that the cabin of new model even more interesting.

Beside new styling, new model features plenty of new or improved hi-tech features. New perpendicular and park assist works excellent and driver only takes control of the brakes. It also features 180 degree system, which is consisted of three cameras – one on the front bumper and two on the sides, and this system works very well too. There are also some other notable hi-tech safety features such as Adaptive Cruise Control and Collision Warning Lane Departure Warning and Lane Keeping Assist. There are also features like heated rear seats, heated steering wheel, two 2-amp USB chargers etc. As we already said, 2015 Ford Edge comes slightly bigger and this has nice impact when it is about interior space. Improvements in space are especially notable behind the second row, which comes with 7 inches of additional space.

The second generation of this mid-size crossover comes with several changes when it is about engines. The base model now comes with all new 2.0 liter EcoBoost engine, which has an output of 245 hp and 275 lb-ft of max torque. Second option is 3.5 liter V6, which outputs 280 horses and 250 lb-ft of twist. The third and definitely the most attractive option is powered by 2.7 liter EcoBoost V6, which has output of 315 horsepower and 350 pound-feet of torque. When it is about fuel economy, new 2.0 EcoBoost returns around 20/30 mpg, 3.5 liter V6 Duratec has around 18/26, while 2.7 liter EcoBoost unit has consumption around 18/27 mpg. All engines are paired with 6-speed automatic transmission and available in FWD and AWD configurations.

When it is about price, 2015 Ford Edge starts at around 29.000 dollars, while best-equipped models go up to around 40.000 dollars.
